Privacy Policy
Last Updated: June 2025
1. Overview & Our Core Commitment
GutLog was built from the ground up to be privacy-first by architecture. We believe your health data is intimately personal. All of your health logs, symptoms, and triggers are stored locally on your device using device storage. GutLog does not operate servers that store, process, or view user health data. We cannot sell your data because we do not have it.
2. What Data We Collect
- Health logs: Bowel movements, symptoms, triggers, pain levels, and red flags are stored locally on your device only.
- Subscription status: App Store purchase or subscription status is managed entirely by Apple. GutLog does not see or store your payment information.
- Anonymous crash reports: Collected only if you have opted in through Apple's system settings.
- Analytics events: We may use privacy-preserving, anonymous analytics to see which app features are popular, but this contains no personally identifiable information (PII) or health data.
3. What Data We DO NOT Collect
- We do not collect names, email addresses, or phone numbers.
- We do not transmit your health records to GutLog servers.
- We do not use device identifiers for tracking across other companies' apps or websites.
- We do not sell data to third parties, ever.
4. How Data Leaves Your Device (Only On Your Action)
Your data only leaves your device when you explicitly choose to share it:
- When you export a PDF report to share with your doctor or yourself.
- When you back up your phone using iCloud (governed by Apple's privacy policy).
- When you use the AI Prompt Generator to copy text to your clipboard and paste it into a third-party AI tool.
5. Third-Party Services
We use specific third-party services to keep the app running:
- RevenueCat: Manages subscription state (see RevenueCat's privacy policy).
- Apple App Store: Manages all payments and subscriptions.
6. Children's Privacy
GutLog is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
7. Your Rights
Because your data is stored locally, you have total control over it. You can delete all your data at any time by selecting "Delete All Data" in the app's settings, or simply by deleting the GutLog app from your device. For EU users, this setup inherently complies with GDPR principles regarding data minimization and user control.
